On Friday, May 1, 2009, six DeSoto youth attended the state 4-H Shooting Sports Competition in Lake Charles, La.

The 2008- 2009 cool-season pasture and forage varieties publication and 2009 Warm Season Pasture and Forage Crop Variety Suggestions contains information on cool season grass and legume varieties recommended to be planted in Louisiana in the fall and warm season grasses recommended to be planted in the spring. The LSU Spring Livestock Show was held February 14 - 21, 2009 at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, Louisiana and DeSoto Parish was very well represented by the seventeen youth who participated at this show.

Two Pesticide Recertification meetings will be held in DeSoto Parish on Wednesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 25th at the David Means Memorial 4-H Center in Grand Cane.
