La. 4-H History

4-H can trace its roots in Louisiana to the boys' corn club, which began in Avoyelles Parish in 1908 with the help of the parish superintendent of education, V. L. Roy, and the dean of the College of Agriculture, Dr. W.R. Dodson.

About Lincoln Parish
Art shows, church socials, picnics at the park, a crawfish boil with co-workers — it seems families always have something fun planned. Ours is a community made up of people who like to stay active, not only for their own pleasure, but also for the benefit of others. Volunteerism is a passion in Lincoln Parish.

(01/15/10) WEST MONROE, La. – More than 1,800 first and fourth graders from seven northeast Louisiana parishes heard about agriculture commodities at Ag Alley in special showings Jan. 13-14 at Ag Expo.

Cook your turkey properly to avoid illness
(Distributed 11/12/09) Turkey is the traditional choice for most Thanksgiving celebrations. There is no quality difference between a fresh or frozen turkey although fresh turkeys have shorter shelf lives, according to LSU AgCenter nutritionist Dr. Beth Reames.
