Learn to make your own biodiesel at workshop on Sept. 8
People who want to learn to make their own biodiesel are invited to a workshop on September 8, 2008, hosted by the LSU AgCenter at the East Bank Regional Library in Metairie. The workshop starts at 7 p.m. and will include a presentation on how to make biodiesel from used vegetable oil at home or in a small business.

Jefferson 4-H Members attend 2007 Marsh Maneuvers

Three Jefferson Parish 4-H members joined other 4-H members from across the state for a week long teen camp called Marsh Maneuvers. Participants had the unforgettable experience of walking in marsh mud, taking airboat rides, coming face to face with alligators, swatting mosquitoes and watching the sunrise over the marsh.

Jefferson Teens Attend 4-H University

Eighteen Jefferson Parish 4-H teens participated in the 94th annual 4-H University held in June on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. Over 1500 4-H members from across Louisiana spent several days in Baton Rouge participating in state level competition or receiving intensive training in selected subject areas, such as Exploring the World of Sports, Forensics, and Dramatic Arts.

Jefferson Parish 4-H Members Visit the Capitol

Three Jefferson Parish 4-H members visited the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge in early June for “4-H Day at the Capitol”. They joined hundreds of 4-H members, 4-H Volunteers, and parents for the event. As a special bonus, participants celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the 4-H Youth Development Program in Louisiana.

Airline Park 4-H members gave demonstrations on their favorite things they learned out of their Discovering 4-H project book. Discovering 4-H is the project book assigned to all new 4-H members in grades 4-6.

Clara O'Sullivan Inducted into Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame

Ms. Clara O'Sullivan was honored on March 6, 2008 as an inductee to the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame. Ms. O'Sullivan served as a 4-H Volunteer Leader for 29 years in Jefferson Parish.
